Together they settled near Toronto, Canada, where Harriet supported James as he worked as a carpenter and raised their four children: Thomas, Ellen, Samuel, and Margaret.
She was known to be practical, kind, and dependable, often managing the household while James built up his trade. Harriet lived a long life by his side and was with him when he passed away in 1923. She continued to be a central figure in the family, remembered for her quiet strength and steady presence.
